Schools Cup 2012

October 16 2012

Schools all over the UK traveled to ‘The Shire London’ to compete for the 6th annual ISGA Schools Cup, which took place this Tuesday 16th October. It was great to see such a fantastic turnout with a full field of 25 teams (100 players) competing for the schools. The hooter went at 10.00am to kick off the shotgun start with teams assembled on every tee on the golf course. The gusting winds and brisk cold air made this difficult course even more brutal, however some made it look like a stroll in the park.

The boy winner, ‘George Mullins’ (Whitgift) totally ignored the difficult conditions and played great steady golf to finish with a 1 under 71 gross. The best girl was Olivia Kelly from Trent with a score of 88 gross. The best teacher was Finbar Cotter (St Catherines) who came through with a competitive score of 75, 3 over gross.

In the Team competition the overall gross winners were ‘New Hall’ with a combined score of 229. And ‘Bedales’, a new school to the ISGA Schools Cup, came through to take the 1st Nett prize.
